BIAXPLEN creates unique metallised HBV.M film with strong barrier properties

BIAXPLEN has developed a unique metallised HBV.M film. The new grade has strong barrier properties and can be used in gas-filled packaging to ensure an extended shelf life for potato chips. There are only a few companies globally capable of making films with similar characteristics.

The new product will be manufactured at BIAXPLEN’s Kursk site at a capacity of 500 ktpa. The start is scheduled for 2H 2021.

“The new grade was developed by a large cross-functional team that worked efficiently to create the formula and production process, upgrade the BOPP line, and design metallisation equipment and digital quality control systems. The quality lab also employed new methods to assess the product's properties.”
