«Tobolsk-Polymer» LLC
Tobolsk-Polymer LLC is a subsidiary of Sibur and its construction of a modern complex for polypropylene production with a capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year is the largest project in the Russian Federation. It is located in Tobolsk’s industrial zone on the site of Tobolsk-Neftekhim.
The company will consist of a process plant for the dehydrogenation of propane and the production of propylene (510,000 tonnes per year), and a process plant for the production of polypropylene (500,000 tonnes per year), plus general service facilities.
Transport infrastructure is represented by an extensive network of railways and highways, constructed for the Tobolsk industrial hub.
During the construction phase, Tobolsk-Polymer is included in SIBUR’s corporate structure as part of the Directorate of Hydrocarbon Feedstock, headed by SIBUR Vice President Mikhail Karisalov. Upon completion, Tobolsk-Polymer will be part of the Directorate of Plastics and Organic Synthesis, headed by SIBUR Vice President Sergei Merzlyakov.
The Tobolsk-Polymer project will complete the production chain for the processing of associated petroleum gas in chemical production within SIBUR’s industrial complex. The raw material for the operation — propane — will come from a central gas fractionating plant located on the Tobolsk-Neftekhim site. The Company intends to supply polypropylene to the domestic market (~200,000 tonnes per year) and to the export market (~300,000 tonnes per year). Delivery will be by road and rail.
The business’s main product — polypropylene — is a solid thermoplastic polymer and one of the most widely used plastics.
